Polished gourd with persimmons

This painting has been sold

Oil on wood panel 8" x 8" £65 (British pounds) plus postage & packing

I bought this gourd in Ghana some years ago. They are I think big seed pods which are allowed to dry out then they are polished and figures of animals and birds made in clay are fixed to the surface and painted black. It's one of my favourite things.

This is a beautiful painting as usual. Thank you so much for my award - I am chuffed to pieces! It means a lot coming from a painter I admire so much! I will try and copy it onto my blog and do the passing on but I can't guarantee it will work as I'm using an old fashioned browser and cant seem to do links and stuff.

It's ok Annie, don't worry if it doesn't work. It's the thought that counts :-D.
You can mention 2 more bloggers whose work you like though and we can look them up ourselves.
Thanks for your generous comment on the painting.

A challenge to make this design work, what with that strong angle of the table. But everything just clicks into place beautifully.

Yeh it was a bit of a challenge Don. I found that it only began to work when I softened the lower edges of the table and legs etc. Thanks for your comment.
