Acrylic on canvas board 9.5" x 7"
I am totally disoriented. I was at one of those "which direction do I really want to go" periods and at the same time my laptop is still out of order and I'm writing this on an old pc. What with the holidays too, it all seems a bit strange round here. Anyway, whatever the situation no excuse not to paint. Just got to keep putting paint to surface and if the thoughts are confused then so be it - let them get on with their confusion. Meanwhile I'll see if that colour sits ok with this colour and if the composition is right and all that stuff. I painted most of this perching on the spiral staircase going up to the attic and looking across to the bathroom. I think it was the most uncomfortable painting position I've ever had. The lighting too was awful as it was really dark where I was sitting but lots of light coming through the bathroom window.

you inspire me Sheila! Confusion, discomfort or whatever you get on with the painting...!!This one works wonderfully despite your uncomfortable position on the stairs.
Well, the result was worth it!
The light really focuses the eye.
Sally (painterchum), thanks for the encouragement. Yep, its just a case of getting on with it I think. I need the paint mileage! Have a great time in Spain! Should be a bit warmer than Manchester at the moment.
Thanks Sally Ann, nice of you to say so.
Happy New Year! Well, I would say the uncomfortable position was well worth it, this is a beautiful painting. Your interiors are wonderful! You really capture the sense of space, and in each 'space' there is a different feeling and atomosphere.

Happy new year to you too Joan! Thanks for your encouraging comments. I do enjoy doing interiors - of anywhere!
it is a wonderful everyday scene which we often ignore... beautiful work! we are also in snow here and it is so cold... but i like it!
Thank you Rahina, yes, sometimes we do not see potential painting subjects when they are right under our noses! Keep warm!
This is, as many of your interiors are, out of the ball park! Just love it!
Aw, thanks Sally. Nice expression - I am honoured.
Happy New Year, Sheila! Always very good works with very beautiful grey's !
Hello Sheila I really like this painting. Perhaps the sense of being in a corridor or anteroom looking at an open door towards light reflects your current state of mind? I have to say I frequently feel like as you do about painting. It's nice to know there are others out there struggling away. Good luck with everything in 2010! kind regards Deborah
Regis, thank you - and bonne annee to you aussi mon ami!
Hi Deborah, yes, you could be onto something there! Thanks for your kind wishes. Do you have a website so that I can see your work?
Awesome, Sheila!
Thanks a lot Becky!
