Life drawing session 9th September 2010

This was the first studio session I had attended in a few weeks - and I was late! Anyway, managed to squeeze in a charcoal drawing and a pastel work (suppose it is a pastel painting?). It was great to get back into the feel of life work again and of drawing generally! Had no time in Ethiopia. Too busy with other things. Both these pieces measure about 13" x 10"

So nice to see your work again! I quite like the way you handled the volume and form--also highlighting on the skin in the colour study

Thanks Jan - it seems like ages since I lifted a pencil or a brush!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who wonders what to call pastels. I think they are drawings.

Hi Sally - must admit this one "felt like" I was drawing, but I saw some Old Master pastels in Paris earlier this year and they looked just like oil paintings. I was amazed when I read they were pastels.

wonderful drawing in both. Love seeing a model who doesn't look like a pin up ;)
A real woman, beautifully portrayed.

Yay, Mary, a real woman. That's where you get the character, right?
