wow-maybe you should re-title: Eve--what a symbolic painting!
the expression and gesture reveal the underlying wisened soul ---but is optimistic and obviously inviting with the tempt of the fruit--just riveting-and as always your paint handling is brilliant--also quite enjoyed your drawings--interesting to see your different approaches--culminating to this genius:-D

Oh yeh, that would have been a good title! Thank you Jan. I didn't think of that one. Thanks for the paint handling comment too. It's a bug at the moment. Still trying different things.

This is so soulful Sheila. I don't know who the woman is, but she's not only beautiful, but also stylish.

I love that this woman is looking away. Once again, looking "askance". Your paintings make me use that word, which I would otherwise never do. It seems so loaded. So does this painting. Like, is this woman going to throw this fruit at someone?

Sam, yes she could well be about to chuck it at someone. It's funny, all the things people are saying are partially true. I am trying to allow the psychological possibilities to just "emerge" rather than overtly strive to express a particular theme or idea.

This has an honesty with very little vanity that is so difficult to paint. You also make a relatively simple image seem so full. Very nice.

That's interesting Bruce, thanks. Making the simple image seem "full" is I think something I am after both in a more psychological sense but also in a painterly sense. Trying to get a sense of density in parts without too much pigment.
