Me myself

Acrylic on wood 8" x 6"

This is yet another re-work of a painting which I had called "Reverie" and which I have now removed from the blog (as it doesn't exist anymore except in my imagination). It was based on a self portrait and this is a development of that. It no longer has the "dreamy" feel to it but I think it works on a number of levels so I'm content.

If you ever did line up all of your self-portraits, this is the poster child. I love your shadow colors.

every stroke seems to tell a story in this painting.... strong yet suggesting an underlying vulnerability!

I didn't see the first one but I LOVE this one. The paint is luscious and thick and there seems to be as much depth and layers to the paint as there are to the subject. Complex. Your eyes are very clear and intent so you didn't lose the spirit of the subject with the subsequent layers of paint. (I do that).

BTW I came to your blog via Janelle Goodwin.

Sheila this is very special. I really do like the way you've been painting with a palette knife recently. The marks are strong and earthy but the textured paint surface seems to let the colour glow!

And this looks very much like you, especially those knowing blue eyes:)
