Alain de Botton
The wisdom of the faiths belongs to all of mankind, even the most rational among us, and, throughout the liturgical year, deserves to be selectively reabsorbed. Religions are intermittently too useful, effective and intelligent to be abandoned to the religious alone.

Hi Sheila,
Happy Christmas. I do like this thought. I love the songs and spirituality without being a believer in anything but my own obscure thoughts about life and love.
I am delighted that other people are believers and create mystery and enchantment for us.

Hi Barbara, it's a nice concept isn't it and a true one. I think every man is a philosopher at some level and this appeals to me too.
