Nancy, half way through I started working the surface with charcoal so I think the subsequent paint applications have picked up that charcoal dust and it helped the density. Glad you like it. I have a couple more of him in the pipe line but it will be a few days now before I can paint again.

Thanks Barbara, you know I get to feel quite "confined" and "frustrated" when I stick to the same style and subject. I'm really enjoying this current painting experience though but I'll follow where it leads me.

Boy, Sheila, this recent series of portraits...and the Communicants series...they are all so powerful. Really quite extraordinary. Congratulations on this wonderful work--your struggle for expression is so inspiring.

Don, You are so right - it is a struggle for expression and it's a strange one because I "give up" about every other day but it sits there, challenging me, all my painting stuff. .
