Acrylic on canvas panel 9.5" x 7"... Not sure it looks much like me but it was good practice scumbling, glazing and dripping the paint. When using "black outlining" I am beginning to see that it's important (at least for me) to keep destroying that line and re-affirming it. I think that helps to convey more the complexity of people which is after all, all going on in their heads.

These are very characteristic of you, and I like watching the progression.
Thanks Sally - good to know there is some kind of 'continuity' coming through.
Great portrait. You've changed the look of your blog, and I like the visual power of both your blog, and this vibrant, strong piece.
XO Barbara
Hey Barbara, hope you are feeling better today. Yes, I was playing around with blogger and the next thing I knew I had a new blog. I just wanted to test things out but it ran away with me. Thanks for the feedback on the portrait.
WOW!
Astounding work, Sheila - I'm mightily impressed. I shall be following you blog with great interest!
Oh, I am loving this! The whole series, but this one especially. Thanks for posting a bigger image, too.
That's what I say when I'm browsing through yours Linda.
Hi Keith, nice of you to visit. That painting holiday you are organising with Simon in beautiful Italy next year sounds marvellous!
Hi Sam, I think it might be a longish series too. I'm enjoying the dripping, glazing and scumbling too much to give up yet. Yeh, I didn't realise the "large" size Blogger image would still fit the screen and it does in fact show more detail.
Fabulous, Sheila! I feel as if you went all out on this self-portrait. It's bold, mysterious and complex all at the same time. It's serious and contemplative so the colors are unexpected but delightful. Wow.
Hi Marie, I decided I did not want to leave this sceptered isle without exploring the joys of cadmium yellow, napthol red and cobalt blue in all their glory! Thanks.
Wow this is really powerful!
Hi Nancy, your kind words are appreciated. I really like your latest work around shadows.
