This is a magnificent painting. Hauntingly beautiful.XO Barbara
Thanks Barbara, there are some faces in that bunch of old photographs whose personalities I feel begin to peek through. This is the "Welsh girl". She is sweet but strong in an Emily Dickinson kind of way.
I think there's a wonderfully wistful quality to this painting, Sheila.
Wow- just checked out the new web-site. Really fascinating (and cohesive grouping) study of the human condition!
Harry, that's an interesting perspective. I think I agree with you.
Thanks so much Roxanne - sometimes we feel we make progress and sometimes it's just treading water.
Incredible, evocative -- knowing. Stunning. I keep trying to decide which is my favorite - and like a community/family - I like some better than others for specific reasons -- but I can't see any of them apart. I think if I had to "live" with one, it would be "Scarred", but I like "Madame", "Blemished", "Prodigal", "Salvationist"... ah, there I go again, listing them all!
Sheila this is beautiful. It has an ethereal quality to it and yes I agree, wistful and haunting too. It's almost as though she is an apparition, captured, and looking out at us.
Your faces are very mysterious and pensive. Beautiful and haunting work.
Really like your website. I enjoy lingering in the stories told in the faces. Always a treat to view your work.Love & Laughter,DJ
Marietta, thanks for the encouragement. Much appreciated!
Theresa, thank you. That girl seemed to speak to me from out of that photograph. I have painted her a few times now and each time it comes out different.
Shelley, I am glad you see my work that way. I think your work is brave and exotic. I could learn some courage from you!
Hi DJ, it's a while since our paths crossed. Thanks so much for your kind words.
