This is the first of two paintings of boys playing guitar who I saw on a trip to Italy - and painted - a couple of years ago. Hope its not too long before I can go again. It is such a beautiful country. These two were sitting on the back of a bench rather than the seat I think because that way it gave more room for the guitar.
Hi Sheila, how are you? I love this painting, it's really beautiful, I like the subject and the colors. I hope you'll come to Italy very soon, today in Milan it's raining, it's quite unusual in this period of the year, anyway congratulations for your art show, I'm very happy for you! See you soon, ciao! Paola.
ReplyDeleteHi Paola, yes the painting takes me back - to the good life :) I don't think I ever experienced rain in Italy at this time of year. It wouldn't put me off though!
ReplyDeleteYour work is so much of an inspiration to me Sheila. Just love this one. Marjorie
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheila for your very kind and encouraging comment. I visit your blog regularly to see what you have been up to. I'm full of admiration for your work and I think your Stalybridge paintings would make a great book. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThe use of light in this painting is just exceptional. The shadow play on the subject give it such a glow. Great one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marjorie. These two were working hard but enjoying themselves so much. It made a good subject!
ReplyDeleteIsabel, thank you. I really like your imaginative work. I think that is so hard to do. Also I am grateful for your comments on the Stalybridge paintings. A lot of them have flown the nest now - and most of them not anywhere near Stalybridge!
ReplyDeletePat, thank you for visiting my blog. To be honest I don't think the light in Italy is as difficult to capture as it is in UK for instance. In Southern Europe it creates strong colours and strong tonal contrasts which are great to work with.
