The church of John the Baptist, Addis Ababa

This drawing has been sold

Small sketch ink and colour wash approx 7" x 5"

The orthodox Coptic church is the largest and most ancient of Christian churches in Ethiopia. This one is particularly ornate and has three beautiful turqoise domes but it was the cool walkways and the quiet little figure under her umbrella which interested me in this scene.

  2. Edward, hi!! it is great to be back, really, although missing my good friends in Ethiopia. I can't wait to get painting again. Anyone suffering from painter's block needs to have 2 weeks of enforced absence from it to jolt them into action again!

  3. Welcome home, Sheila! Lovely, fluid drawings. Do you think you'll develop them into paintings?

I'll respond to your email soon.

  4. Hi Don! Thanks for your welcome and the comment on the drawings. At the moment I don't have plans to develop them into paintings, no, but I'll store them away in my head just in case :-). Hope your studio planning is going well.
