  1. Sheila,

I love the shadow and the reflections on and around the table.
What is fascinating is that they seem to be at the same time very well observed, and a bit unnatural (or just very emphasized?).
I also love the white brushstroke that repeats the shape of the table-leg in the middle. It's an excellent finding.

  2. Werner, thanks for your interesting comments. I like the "bit unnatural" one because I am always wanting to stray away from realism but sometimes my brush says "oh no, you have to do it right!" duh!

  3. Hi Sheila, I am catching up on a lot of your posts since I was here last. I especially like a lot of these latest still lifes. They remind me of Cezanne in color and line.

  4. Thanks for dropping by Frank and for your encouraging words - Cezanne was always a strong favourite of mine. I've been really enjoying the recent paintings and the conversations on your site.

  6. Thanks for visiting Molly. I think Cezanne was as concerned about the surroundings in which his objects lay as much as the objects themselves. I like that idea. Love your recent drawings by the way.

  8. Thank you Bill, the emotional context might be around the chair as these two yellow chairs belonged in my grandparents house where I spent much of my childhood. Some good memories.
