I don't know if this is a "keeper" but I think it might be. It has more energy in the flesh than it does in the digital. I deliberately tried not to "fuss" over the paint and I made myself use brushes as well as rags. It's mostly indigo, paynes grey and vandyke brown. Finding your voice in terms of creative expression can't really be compared to handwriting as many people claim because the act of transcribing perceptions, feeling and emotion - which is what painting is in essence - involves more and varied parts of the brain than simple "learned" handwriting. And so painting can become very complex and interesting and exciting because at any moment during painting the painter can accept some perceptions, feelings and emotions and reject others. There are choices going on which are often subliminal as well as overt.

Sheila - I'm not sure you saw it, but I answered you back on my blog. I didn't see the message you left because I am not used to going back to check to see if anyone left a message. I wish Blogger would notify us when that happens.
ReplyDeleteOh well. Anyway...this painting (and your paragraph below it) of yours is, I am sure, so amazing in real life. I would love to see it with my very own eyes one of these days!!! Take good care!
