The meeting, Harlem

Oil on artists' board approx 20" x 18"
The original painting was bothering me a lot. I had left it in my bedroom for a few days and every time I looked at it it was troubling me. It was just too literal, too fussy, it didn't know where it was going. So I cropped it quite severely and got back to some big shapes I could live and breathe with. It isn't a wonderful painting and I don't rate it too much but at least now, I feel as if it is "a painting" and not something else.

This painting is not for sale

Hi Sheila, to tell you the truth I'm mad about this kind of painting, a place with some people in there. They are definitely my favourite subjects.
I adore the beautiful atmosphere you create, everything is perfect! My best wishes for your new painting class. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun and inspiration. Ciao!
