Mancunian biker

Acrylic on hardboard 7" x 4" This painting has been sold

The light up here in the north of England is much cooler, more watery (it is always threatening rain). This is one of the older buildings in Manchester with more modern student accommodation behind it. By the way, people who live in Manchester are called "Mancunians". Note that the guy is wearing a cycling helmet. In all the European countries I have visited I have not seen cyclists wearing helmets. Here I think it is compulsory.
Learning strategy: I think I learned that this size of board is really not for me. I can't really get my teeth into it; it's very frustrating.

  1. Sheila, I'm sorry you have found it frustrating to work to this size because I think the last two are fabulous loose works with just the right amount of brushwork to suggest detail. Love the compositions too, the awesome architecture that has stood the test of time forms an impressive backdrop to the dwarfed figure that compared to the architecture is fleeting in time.

  2. Thanks Triecia for your valuable comment on this size of board. Yeh, I do like occasionally the juxtaposition of very small figures with very big architecture! Good to hear from you and so glad you are back painting again.
