That great, original, grande dame of British painting, when asked by Hans Ulrich Obrist, what advice she would give to young painters today said : "Keep going. Just do what you do and keep going". It's so simple and it's so right. But I would like to add "Try to be aware of what you do, keep looking at the work with a critical eye, what you like and what you don't like. Be wary of relying too much on other people's considerations and comments, both good and bad. It's yours - it don't belong to nobody else".
As Elvis said at his very first audition, when asked who he sang like, he answered "I don't sing like nobody Sir".
