Acrylic and charcoal on canvas 24" x 24"
Using veils of colour does not give you the feeling of "building" a painting. It feels more like gently covering one up. When I work like this I spend quite a lot of time just sitting and looking. The way the charcoal interacts with the drying paint is so random but for me it contrasts appropriately with the direct charcoal marks.
