Sofa seat

I have spent the past few days discarding and recycling old paintingshere and where it was not possible to re-use a canvas, stripping it off its stretcher frame and stretching new canvas around it. This process takes quite some time, especially when you factor in 3 - 4 coats of gesso primer onto the new surfaces, but it has saved me quite a lot of money and I have some lovely "new" larger canvases to look forward to.

"Sofa seat" is a new painting done with many layers and a very limited primary palette. Earth colours, apart from Atelier's brown/black, were banned. I wanted to explore the challenges I feel working with colour. What did I have to lose?
