Acrylic, charcoal and pastel on board 26" x 18"
This was done on an old board which had a lot of collage and texture stuff on it which I got rid of as the board was good and they are so expensive to buy. It started as an exercise in using a limited colour palette but it became a painting which sort of pleases me. It's mainly acrylic and the colours I used are: Yellow iron oxide, Cadmium red deep, Ultramarine violet, Titanium white and Brown black.
I have been sorting through my mother's old photos and saw a postcard I had sent from some European holiday I took years ago. Although the painting has come totally from my imagination, the stone coloured sweep of the brush at the centre of the lower half of the painting reminded me of an old Renaissance statue which you find everywhere in Florence.
Beautiful painting. XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara
